The National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art has over 13,000 exhibits. The oldest pieces dating from the XV c. and now allows us to see the development of this art during half of the millennium.

      TCeramics is one of the oldest and most common types of folk art in our country. For centuries, generations of potters have created an infinite number of forms, decorative motifs, color variations. Ukraine has extremely rich deposits of high quality clay of different types, from red to white kaolin enabling production of pottery and porcelain. This art of ceramics in our country has become well developed.

      TThe museum has a varied and fully represented all regions of pottery making. Among many centers with high artistic level we can name such villages as Dybyntsi (Kiev region), Sunky(Cherkasy region), Opishne (Poltava region), Smotrych (Vinnytsa region), town Bar(Khmelnitsky region). As well as villages Kosiv, Kolomyia in Ivano-Frankivsk region. Collection of individual authors ceramics areamong the best in Ukraine - A. Nochovnyk (1853-1913), F. Chyrvenko (1868-1919) and others. Most of the art works in the collection - about 9,000 exhibits – works byc ontemporary artists and folk artists. Among them N. Fedorova (1907-1993), D. Golovko (1905-1978), V. Protor'yev (1924-1997), N. Protor'yeva, M. Denysenko, P. Pechornyy, N. Isupova, L . Bohynskyy, A. Ilyinsky and others. On the basis of thecollection museum has already published a large numberofalbums, books and articles.
